Nice walk along the Canal, used to provide drainage to the local area and as part of the flood defence system, adding to the local amenity, and of course creating the area of Waikiki.

This is a man made canal from the bay that runs along the back of the village. The rowing club use this and you may catch sight of 4 or 8 man rowing boats speeding up and down the canal.

Worth having a look at. Lovely walks down along the Canal and I loved watching the row boats. It's just a really nice spot to wander along during the day.

The Ala Wai Canal is man-made and there are plenty of places to walk, hike, ride or skateboard. There are rental kayaks available as well, and it is a calm place to be on the water. A lot of people do fish in the canal...More

A short walk from Kalakaua Avenue is an interesting drainage canal built in the former Waikiki swamp reclaimed land. They have made the length of the canal a beautiful park, albeit a narrow strip of a coconut tree lined park. Lots of interesting wildlife. You...More

Walked along the Ala Wai in January 2011 on the way home from Leonard's bakery on Kapahulu. Many fish swimming near the side walk. Also, rowing centre is located on the other side of the canal beside the municipal golf course. Palm trees on both...More
