There are many upscale shops and fine ding restaurants. The live music added to the ambiance. There were also lots of people there and in the area. Not a calm or relaxing place to go.

Great little unique shopping spot, friendly staff in every shop i visited and great relaxing atmosphere, restaurants on top level are wonderful worth checking out. The entertainment that was there everyday was a great little touch aswell.

We remember this place as a fun area of vendors, craftspeople, and fruit sellers. Now it is a 3+ story shopping mall with many high end "label" shops. It is OK if that is what you want but for us it was not a desirable change. A lot of the charm and character of Waikiki has been lost. There are... More

I have been waiting for the so -called new and improved International Marketplace to re-open when we were visiting Waikiki. This time it was open. Though it has been thoroughly gutted and modernized, the little tourist shops are now gone and have been replaced with very high end expensive shops, who have no one shopping in them. One shop we... We had been here before the large scale rebuild and I think it had more atmosphere before. Now it is more commercialised around the stores in the place.

We were surprised to see the changes made to the International Marketplace since our last visit to Honolulu. It is now just the same as many other shopping malls filled with designer outlets. It has retained the banyan tree and tried to retain some character with the water and stage area in the middle. It is a shame that they... More

While change is constant, there is nothing left of the old marketplace except a severely pruned banyan tree. Even the "doll house" in the tree is a far cry from its past. Come for the shopping and food if you must, but forget the history.

This is a really neat shopping/dining area that has an interesting history to boot. You can read a little about its history on a display on the 2nd floor by the Banyan tree. There are lots of shops here. Most of the restaurants are on the 3rd floor...if you're looking to eat. But being on the main "tourist" alley means... More

This used to be one of my favorite places to come when on Oahu, a real throwback to the 1950s-60s and a hometown feel. When I was in college used to come here every weekend to Duke's. It was a very local vibe. Now the IMP has been totally redeveloped into a glitzy Beverly Hills-like experience and it is sad.... More
