Once in Vicksburg, this museum is well worth 60 to 90 minutes for its antebellum and Civil War history. Very nice exhibits of the old type, no videos, not experiential like the modern museums.

Lots of artifacts, costumes, etc. that are interesting to view. But this museum minimizes and denies the horrors of slavery, with prominently displayed statements such as, “There was a special relationship between Jefferson Davis and his slaves. Not only was he their master, but also...More

Very well done museum. A very detailed diorama of the siege of Vicksburg which was helpful to see before going to the military park. Also lots of trains and ship models that have amazing detail. Staff if very friendly and knowledgeable.

The courthouse is majestic. It is located directly across from the current courthouse and is easy to find. The trees that surround it look as old as the courthouse.

A must see for visitors to Vicksburg and is equipped to help people with disabilities, with a chair lift to the second floor. Wheelchairs may have a difficult time in the close quarters though. Lots of info in the displays.
