On our River Boat Cruise, early this month, one of our stops was the City Of Vicksburg, Ms. Beside the tour of the Civil War Battlefield at Vicksburg, We visited 3 museums. We Highly recommend The Old Depot Museum at 1010 Levee St, Vicksburg, Ms.. The museum actually opened in 2012 as a " private and non-profit museum and was... More

This is a great little museum in the old Yazoo & Miss RR depot. The model train layouts are really neat, and I am a train lover, both real and model. The scale models of the gunboats and other boats are extremely well detailed and scaled. There are house models and cars, many done by one local modeler. His work... More

Not really the greatest museum but to get a sense of what took place here it offers a look at what happened that is pretty interesting. I agree that kids probably wouldn't be that fascinated except with some of the models, but for us it was pretty good. We enjoyed it.

Large model of vicksburg battlefield. Many models of ironclad river boats and others. Large model railway layout which was operational when we visited. Man in charge gave us some history on the battle and vicksburg.

There was more to see than I expected. A number of Bill Atteridge's magnificent carved, wooden ship models of Confederate naval vessels are on display, along with those of some other artists. There is a diorama of the battlefield which contains a couple thousand miniatures.

If you are going with out kids this will more than likely be interesting to you at some point during your tour , also make... More

This should be on everyone’s to-do list when visiting downtown Vicksburg. It is located right at the Levee wall in an old railway depot building. The curator, Dave, made a lot of the displays depicting the battles that were fought on the river and in the battlefields around Vicksburg during the Civil War. There is a magnificent diorama of the... More

We come here for the little gift shop. They always have the right souvenir to take home to family and friends. The little museum is nice too. We like the short film shown. Worth some time.
