Description:

Brett and Denise Isenhower are the owners and winemakers of Isenhower...

Brett and Denise Isenhower are the owners and winemakers of Isenhower Cellars. Our winemaking is simple in concept yet complex in execution. We have long term contracts to purchase grapes by the acre from great sustainable vineyards in the Northwest. Key to our vineyard selection are farmers who we trust and have an excellent relationship with. All our grapes are hand picked and hand sorted to guarantee only perfect grapes enter the winery.

We use traditional winemaking methods to craft the wines. These methods include punchdowns, foot stomping, saignée, native yeast fermentation, barrel stirring, and sur lie aging. The top tier reds are all free run wine and aged in the finest new and once used French oak barrels. The white wines are aged in a combination of neutral French oak barrels and stainless steel barrels. Our rosé is briefly aged in stainless steel barrels. Our goal is for each Isenhower Cellars wine to be unique, age worthy, and delicious. Isenhower Cellars currently produces 4000 cases of wine per year.

One of our favorites!

This is one of the few wineries who filter their wines. Denise is great about sharing interesting tidbits about the process.

We attended the barrel tasting weekend on Dec 5, our second time to the winery. Brett remembered us and treated my wife and I to an extensive barrel tasting. The entire family gets involved, serving delicious soups and snacks to go with the wines. We felt welcomed and met some very nice people as well.

Being in the winebusiness myself I very much enjoyed their wines. Also important from a marketing point: congratulations to their labels, they match with the wines and people will remember them which makes it easier to sell.

Incredible quality. Brett and Denise Isenhower have established and grown a "boutique" family winery that is second to none. Not trying to be all things to all people, they focus selectively on Rhone-style wines, mostly reds, that are outstanding. When in Walla, take the short drive south to Isenhower.
