Sadly the focal point of cincinnati's streets is a bit of a minefield for victims-to-be. The restaurants are nice, but I would recommend staying inside. I've been a few times and the outdoor atmosphere is very uncomfortable and aggressive. If you do plan on sitting...More

The center of downtown Cincinnati is a great place for a stroll with lots of activity year round. Shops and restaurants close by make it easy place to spend a couple of hours.

We enjoyed this - you could sit outside at a restaurant and watch what's happening. It was a little annoying to have so many people begging for money. :(

Place had some cozy bars. Lots of food and places for entertainment around. Homeless occupy area, but not a big deal.

There was live music, vendors and lots to take in simply people watching. A must stop and do while in town.

Something was being set up as we walked the area and it was fairly crowded. Several horse and carriage across the street, and very close to Carew Tower/observation deck. Decent walk to Smale park.

I love this spot in Cincinnati. The fountain is gorgeous, especially at night. The energy is fantastic. There are restaurants all around and there is generally some sort of event taking place. I only wish that I lived closer so I could go more frequently.

Parking under the square is only $5 for 2 hours compared to other places that are more expensive. We ate at a local bar that had a daily special and we got a hamburger and chips for $5. My boyfriend had to go get napkins...More

The chess pieces are at Smale Park on the riverfront.
Is this German market on Fountain Square worth a trip for an out of towner looking for something to do for a couple hours?

I believe that the German market that you are reference is 'Findlay Market' which is on the northwest side of downtown. I think that it is only open during daytime hours. It is better and livelier during warmer months
Is the ice rink there in the summer
