This was a neat place and definitely worth stopping. My advice would be to go in the morning as it gets busier throughout the day. We drove by at 7 AM and no one was there vs busy when we went at 6 PM. It...More

....Where hot springs mix with cool river water - find the 'sweet spot' and relax! Be sure to have water shoes or sandals because the rocks aren't easy on your feet! The water is crystal clear and the view is amazing!

Boiling River was a great experience. We stopped on our way out of the park and it was busy, even in the late afternoon. Though we had to walk, it was well worth. To relax one's muscles and float lazily really rejuvenated our party after...More

It was snowing and we were floating in a warm river. How can it be? Boiling water comes from the springs, and mixes with the river. No frills, just the experience of getting in a river in the middle of the winter.

I traveled to Yellowstone in summer and knew nothing about this gem. I was traveling with family who had purchased a Gypsy GPS guide that told us about various places in the park that were worth stopping at. No mention was made of the Boiling...More

We stopped for an hour or so while exploring the park, and were pleasantly surprised. It was July, but we didn't have swimsuits on so we waded into the river in our shorts to feel the water. Probably wouldn't want to stay for hours on...More

Definitely worth the effort. Was quite a challenge to walk in the river, where one leg was so cold it was nearly numb and the other felt it was on fire due to the hot water. I'd definitely recommend wearing water shoes. Once we made...More

We loved our soak in the Boiling River! Well actually the spot where the boiling river meets the Gardner River. A little challenging at times to find a spot that wasn't too hot or too cold or too crowded but overall very worth the short...More

Just check with the rangers at the visitor center in Mammoth Hot springs. It is only a few miles from there.
