One of the most recommended trails in the Yosemite valley. The Yosemite falls are visible from a distance, no matter you are in Yosemite. So, being able to climb to the top of the waterfall and get a bird’s eye view of the valley is simply surreal. The trail also provides stunning views of the waterfall at different vantage points. We saw two rainbows at the base of the falls.

This is slightly harder trail, with a total distance of around 7 miles and an elevation gain of 3,000 ft. So take plenty of breaks and give yourself at least 5 - 6 hours to complete this. Alternately, you can also visit the lower Yosemite Falls, which gets you closer to the base and is a much easier hike.

Yosemite Falls is the highest Waterfall in North America, and the fifth tallest in the world, cascading 2425 feet to the ground. It looks like an ethereal ribbon of white water, but it actually falls in three stages – Upper, Middle and Lower Falls. Just imagine -- It is a dozen times higher than the Niagara, and twice the height of the Empire State Building.

If you are in the vicinity of the Lower Falls, there is a point from where you can see all the three stages of the waterfall.

We took the Shuttle to the Yosemite Falls Stop. After a short walk, the path bifurcates, and you can select the strenuous hike to the Upper Falls. Given the time we had on our hands, we chose the path to the right, and then hiked only to the Lower Falls.

Absolutely beautiful…!

Really Spectacular. Many visits to Yosemite but this was the first time the falls were flowing. So beautiful it’s moving.

This trail is very hard, I am pretty young and made it to the top, but it’s extremely difficult for inexperienced to intermediate hikers. The switchbacks are no joke and the step switchbacks are even harder. All this aside I still had a lot of fun and would recommend for anyone ready and looking for a challenge!

This waterfall was stunning to watch! I’ve seen lots of waterfall all over the world but to watch one this tall from a vantage point at the bottom was really a treat!

This falls can be seen from the valley floor near the visitors centre. We walked to the lower falls through the meadow , but you can hike to the upper falls too.

Of the four major waterfalls in Yosemite Valley, Yosemite Falls is arguably the most spectacular. There really is not any way to articulate the grandeur and majesty of the falls.

Due to lack of parking, we decided to hike from the Ahwahnee to the Lower Yosemite Falls lookout. The hike was a relatively easy 1.5 mile hike. From the bridge, we got an amazing view of the lower falls. A lot of people, including ourselves, were able to get much much closer by hiking/climbing over rocks along the side of the creek.

The walk/hike from the main road is really easy. There’s a paved path one can follow from the street to that bridge. From this approach, one can see both the upper and lower falls whereas hiking trail we were on, the upper falls couldn’t be visualized.

We were so happy to be able to see Yosemite Falls in the springtime, May and June being the best months to see the maximum waterfall. It was an easy walk to the base of the falls.

This review is actually for the Yosemite Falls Trail to Columbia Rock.

If you want to get an awesome view of Yosemite Valley and want to get in a great workout, this trail won’t disappoint! The elevation gain is 1000 feet. So make sure you bring lots of water and depending on the weather, wear layers. We did the hike in January when it was cold and we wished we had dressed in layers so that we could shed those layers as we got hotter.

For most people who want to take their time, the round trip to the rock will probably take about 2-3 hours. You can do it faster if you want to go at a faster pace. We had a kiddo that didn’t want to do the hike up, so it took us longer.

In a park with so many amazing features, it is incredible that the tallest waterfall in North America falls to middle of the top 10. In any other park this is the premier attraction, but this is why Yosemite is so incredible. A March visit may mean some areas are not accessible but if you like waterfalls they were all pumping with a large volume of water.

Yosemite Falls is really 3 different falls but all impressive. The upper falls are simply amazing and while I was not able to climb to its base this time, it is still impressive from the Valley floor with a huge ice dome at its landing. The middle falls are the hardest but also least impressive to see. The lower falls are very easy to access and you can get about as close as you feel comfortable. We could feel the cool mist.

This is a signature sight in Yosemite that you have to visit for a complete experience. It is truly amazing and magical. It is a MUST SEE.
