I've stopped near to the point. However, my friend mentioned gorgeous views from the top and he is lucky to see the sunset from there. Bad experience due to missing trail here for me. Some nice family helped me out finding my friend here and...More

Hiked this last week in light snow, with some amazing views with the light filtering through the clouds. Awesome to see the "Ansel Adams" tree on top of Sentinel Dome, perhaps the most famous dead tree in the world.

Not a bad hike and the Dome appears very challenging at first sight. The path to the peak follows to the right and the final grade is moderate and well worth the effort. Persevere and you will be rewarded with a breathtaking 360 degree view.

Sentinel Dome can be accessed from either the Sentinel Dome/Taft Point trailhead or the Glacier Point trailhead. If you're driving up to Glacier Point, you can park at the Sentinel Dome/Taft Point trailhead, and hike the 1.8 mi/2.9 km roundtrip trail to Sentinel Dome, which...More

Did this hike after going out to Taft Point and thought Sentinel Dome was much more scenic and shorter too! I hike frequently, but not at 7500' and it does make a difference. But Sentinel Dome does not have a lot of uphill, until the...More

We hiked this trail in the snow. So following a trail was tough but it was a moderate trail and the top of the dome offers a beautiful view of Yosemite. Walk early morning because parking lot is not very big.

We stopped here for the hike on our way to Glacier Point. I enjoyed the hike and the area was beautiful. There were very few people on the trail. There were other parts of the park we enjoyed more but it was a nice way...More

While at Glacier Point hike the mile west & visit Sentinel Dome. It is a beautiful view & less crowded than Glacier Point.

with Taft Point, and you will the day hike of a lifetime. Both are very doable even for novices. The views from the top offer 360 degree views that are spectacular. We loved this hike.

You must make an effort to walk up Sentinel Dome, but boy is it worth it. Once you get to the top of the mountain, yes the top, you will not believe the views. You get a 360 degree view of the Sierra Nevada mountains....More

You could do PART of it, but honestly, there are really steep drop offs that are deadly. The final ascent could be done, but you kept your hands on your child at all times. I guess if you were careful, it could be done... More
Hi Everyone. The internet shows the Glacier Point Road closed at Badger Pass and yet I see recent posts from visitors who describe hiking to Sentinel Dome and Taft Point. How are they doing that . . . I thought the area was inaccessible due to snow. Thanks for your help. Richard

Hi Recently posted reviews are showing travel dates from last fall. The only folks who have visited Sentinel Dome recently are on skis or snowshoes. And now that Badger Pass has closed for the season, no one will be... More

Hi I assume that you want to end at the Sentinel Dome parking lot / shuttle stop. It's about 1.5 miles from Glacier Point up to the top of Sentinel Dome. Then the loop down the dome, around, and then west to Taft Point is... More
