If you enter Yosemite from Hwy 41 (like we always do), this is a far drive for you. Hetch Hetchy Reservoir itselft isn't so outstanding, but Wapama Falls, Rancheria Falls and others are what calling us to the area.

Hetch Hetchy Reservoir is an absolutely beautiful location to visit. There is a nice trail that goes around the reservoir about as far as you want to hike. The trail is steep at some points, but is doable for most people. There is a tunnel you need to walk through, but you can see to the other side. The drive... More

Great place to get away from the crowds of the valley! Good fishing as well! If you are headed to Hetch Hetchy make sure to stop by Evergreen lodge for dinner, best place to eat in the Yosemite area.

If you are pressed for time this may not be one to add to your list, but still extremely pretty with some good photo ops. The walk is easy but the main view is the lake.

Late season backpacking can be trouble due to snow and this past weekend we had a trip planned starting at Senora Pass. After scouting the location and noticing too much snow we decided on plan B - a 3 day loop starting at Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. The weather was perfect and the fall colors made this a beautiful hike. We... More

The reservoir itself is worth a visit and it is breathtaking to see the beauty of this area. Since it is a little outside the valley it is not as much visited and more serene. We hiked out to the Wapama Falls - or what is the Wapama Falls in the Spring - but they had not a drop of... More

We drove to the damage one evening which itself is a spectacular route. We returned later and walked through the tunnel and perhaps 2 hours up the side of the valley reservoir. It is absolutely stunning, and a good surface to walk on. We had two separate bears cross in front of us! They had no interest in us and... More

If you want to see as much of Yosemite as possible, you have to add this section to your itinerary. It's little traveled, and not quite as scenic, but really, when are you going to be in this section of the world ever again? Parking is very limited once at the dam; you may have to loop around a few... More

A beautiful longer drive than most in park but well worth it when you get there! It's absolutely stunning and the dam is great but the hike around is unbelievably gorgeous. There were a few others but mostly isolated, peaceful and great for photography. One of my more favorable places. Highly recommend for those who want beautiful scenery and few... More

The concierge at the Majestic tried to talk us out of visiting Hetch Hetchy but everything else he recommended we had already done/seen. The drive is quite scenic and the walk over the dam and around the reservoir is easy, relaxing, and scenic. This is no Hoover Dam but if you have the time it is worth the extra drive.... More
