Situated on a beautiful 400Ha game farm, two and a half hours from Jhb on the main road to Botswana. Matamba has two camping options.

Tau Camp, is built in a lovely open woodland, it has only three sites, Drongo, Hornbill and Francolin. These are about 200m apart so are very private. The facilities are rustic but superb, and consist of a thatch family bathroom with shower, flush toilet and Basin, and a separate toilet, there is also an outside shower and toilet built around large trees.

Mara's Camp is a private camp for one group only, in a thick woodland with beautiful big trees this is a very special camp. Two outside bathrooms are cleverly designed and blend into the surrounding bush. Both camps are unfenced and game is regularly in and around the campsites.

There are Four water holes, a thatch hide and a viewing deck three meters up in a tree.

Walking only is permitted, there are four marked trails but over 60 km of sandy tracks, however the wholefarm is open to be enjoyed.

There is a large selection of plains game at Matamba is very relaxed, over 300 birds and many beautiful trees and grasses. Matamba is ideal as a weekend break or a stopover on the way to Botswana

Camped for six nights at Matamba during April, in the Hornbill camp. Loved the silence, tranquility and the fact that your neighbors are not camping on your doorstep. Beautiful game and starry starry nights! Bush walks are awesome, especially if you find the Sable! Thanks to Alan and Sue for a great break away!

Most beautiful, quiet and peaceful camping spots we have ever seen. You feel as if you are alone in the bush. Lots of game walks with enough game to see. The nicest surprise is the perfect and well decorated ablution facilities and pool. See the video on their website. I do not want to spoil your visit by telling you... More

We have visited MatambaBush Camp on several ocaasions and every time we fall in love with it all over again. Pure relaxing in the bush with 5 star ablutions and campsites. The camp was fulle booked, but we didn't hear and hardly saw any other campers. The splash pool was clean and a welcome retreat in the summer heat. Each... More

Have been here twice now and Matamba is a real haven. The campsites are very spacious and you hardly notice your neighbours. The amenities are super clean and well maintained. Everything blends in very well with the nature. The reserve is big enough to walk for hours while meeting giraffe, sabre antilope, eland, kudu, many birds. If you are lucky,... More

With the hassles of life catching up, it was time for a short break out to the bush. a quick search brought up Matamba and with excellent reviews all-round we were sold. It was our last night of 2,5 weeks long trip through Botswana. Since we rented our 4x4 safari drive in Johannesburg - we needed place to stay after a long drive from Nata. We arrived quite late and were warmly welcomed by lovely owners who delivered delicious lasagna to our campsite. It has been a lovely evening, after almost 3... More

A great spot for a couple of days break. Lovely simple camp sites, really well appointed facilities. The open air shower is a plus. Interesting walks with plenty to see. The animals aren't spooked by people so you get some beautiful sightings. Definitely a place to go back to soon.

Camped at Matamba 3 nights. Awesome experience. Privately located campsites, great facilities, awesome pool to cool down in. Walked for hours exploring, nice variety of animals to see. Honestly a great bush experience for the complete getaway. Alan & Sue were great.
