The beach itself has the finest white powder sand I've ever experienced. The water is clear and warm. However the ever present beach boys patrol here looking for a scam as they do everywhere in Zanzibar

Very nice beach popular with kite surfers. Loads of friendly people and beach restaurant options. Affordable beach accommodation which caters for the beach community. The place to be to for watersports and beach activities.

I went to the best beach party ever! me and my friends danced to the raggae/ dancehall beats with mojitos all night long! great vibe, great people, just letting go to the sound of the waves and music

Amazing and relax fishermen village whith a great white sand beach that stretches for several miles. It is possible to do lots of water activities such as windsurfing kitesurfing and snorkeling. Very good

Long white sand beach, clean. We wanted just to relax on the beach, but it was all the time so windy that it was not good for it. Also no nice areas with chairs etc. Because of the wind, this is an excellent place for...More

Gorgeous beach. No sun set as we are in the east side of the Island (and I love sunsets). The difference when low and high tide is amazing. Best place for kite surfing.

Good for kiting and swimming. When the tide is low the water is very shallow and safe for kids. Beautiful, quiet beach and much more pleasant than Nungwi.

It is an incredible beach although the very low tides in the afternoon limits bathing time to the morning. There are a lot of sea urchins (which tend to open in the afternoon) in many places so you have to be extra careful where you...More

There were not too many beach vendors when I was there. Take your camera, swimsuit and maybe beach shoes. You won't believe how far the tide goes back during the day. The beach dries out and becomes a road.

You are absolutely right. Only Nungwi and Kendwa are swimmable all day long. Eastern beaches are swimmable at high tide hours only. The specific times are announced daily by the hotels. At other times, you can walk in the... More
