I was not expecting anything great at this museum but I was surprised by what they had on display. There are displays of tools dating back 4,000 years through to the importance of the sea trade 1st century B.C. There are excellent displays from the 13th century of bowls and jugs and jewellery and two huge Bronze Kettle Drums with... More

Not really much to do in Chumphon so we opted to go to the museum. The museum was ok it only taken about 40 mins to look around but was good for something to do and good if you want to learn the history of Chumphon. To be honest I only went to look at the old buddha artifacts. But... More

Well arranged museum on two floors. Several dioramas illustrate the pre-historic and early human development of the area. There is also a good explanation of what Chumphon means politically and geographically to Thailand. The guides are well informed and eager to assist you in all aspects of the exhibits. Very kid friendly

The building was well kept and clean. A couple movies played, one on the devastating storm Gay and one on WW2. Descriptions of museum artifacts in both Thai and English. Small, but interesting. We paid 100 baht for a foreigner ticket.

A must visit destination if your visiting Chumphon and interested in the history of the region. Far exceeded my expectations of how comprehensive the displays and information is. Has interactive displays, military, cultural and architectural history, even a scale model re-creation of the storm that destroyed so much of Chumphon in the '80s. If you can time it right you... Arrived at about 14.00 hrs the lady on the door looked worried and rang someone who came and put the lights on.Don't think many people visit. It was interesting with quite a few areas to visit. The young man who stayed with us could not speak English but had a lovely smile. I would like to see a brochure in different... More

Situated about a kilometre from Chumphon railway station on the road to the airport and Thung Wualean Beach, the National Museum provides an interesting insight into the history of Chumphon province and is a good place to visit on a rainy day. It is a little difficult to find as it is behind the main regional administrative offices, which are... More
