Lovely place. When will the French learn to clean up after their dogs; it is like walking in a minefield.

Whenever we are in the area we head to the Cap for a seafood lunch or dinner and we are never disappointed. And it comes with good service and a lovely view.

Visited the area at the beginning of May, beautiful beaches and stunning scenery on the walk around Cap Carteret, on a clear day can see many of the Channel Islands.

Walk for miles hardly seeing anyone, what more can you ask! Not sure what it would be like in season, but in June and September it is bliss!

This place is just so beautiful - vast beaches and tranquil. One of my most favourite places. On a clear day you can see Jersey. Whatever time of the year you visit it is spectacular

The walk around the headland is very pleasant. Walk across the beach, past the Potiniere restaurant (hidden in a cove), past the beach huts and there is a path to the top. You can then walk to the Semaphore building and the lighthouse with great views.

I am constantly amazed at the empty beaches in this part of Normandy. I live in Bournemouth and the beach is always busy but in Normandy you can see for miles and not see another soul. Incredible! Barneville-Carteret are two towns with a beaches separated by a harbour and both the beaches are fabulous with miles of golden sands. Even... More

We found a terrific circular walk from cartetet through the dunes to Hatainville then followed a sweet little 4 km circuit of the dunes to a viewpoint and then across to the ruined church and then along the sentier des douniers. A wonderful walk with ever changing countryside. The cliff path is stunning!

Such a lovely place to wander. Allow plenty of time to explore. So beautiful in early summer. We'll be back

Always wanted to sail from Gorey, so booked on the day trip to Carteret. Ship left just after 8 for the short crossing. Arrived at a bleak concrete block. Had been told that there were not many shops, no exaggeration. Followed the crowd on the 30+ min walk to the outdoor market at Barneville, worth a visit. Back in Carteret,... More
