On the way back to our hotel we stopped off at the Palace as it looked interesting. We were disappointed as it never had any information to let you know what you were looking at. They never even give you a leaflet to help visitors...More

We stopped here on the way back from a day out and pleased we did. We had visited Knossos the previous day and had been a little disappointed with there. We were impressed with the Malia Minoan Palace, there aren't as many visitors and you...More

I would recommend a walking tour from Malia to the excavations. Carefully prepared exhibition on a large area, the most important parts covered. In addition to the ruins of the ancient palace, please pay attention to the beautiful panorama around: the mountains and the sea.

Found this by accident, ancient Minoan site, which is smaller than Knossos but because of this much, less commercial so you should be able to walk round relatively undisturbed.

Rather understated and thankfully uncommercialised, 6 euros entry which is good value for a couple of hours of ancient history.

This site is very large, still being excavated and very well worth a visit. It was very quiet when we were there so we were able to amble around at our own pace. Easy to get to as the bus from Heraklion stops right outside.

Travelling along the main road we saw the sign post and thought we`d have a look. Easy to find using the signs. Large car park. The site was bigger than we thought and we had not realised it`s importance. A good place to visit if...More

It's sign posted and easy to spot. It's off the main road so you'll need a car or taxi. But we did it ourselves. It's well worth the visit.

You can take a bus from the main station in Heraklion. Make sure to get on a bus going to "Malia Antiquities" (bus #38 I think) ask the kid selling tickets on the bus to tell you when to get off. The bus stop is up the road... More
