Get on the Happy train you can get on and off whenever you want and it goes from Malia through Stalis to hersonissos , it’s a bit bumpy but so much more fun than a taxi

I think that you should take the Happy Train at least once during your stay...you see so much and can appreciate the places around better when you walk about. Worth the experience.

The trips into the mountains are 22 euro, you have an hours guided tour an then free time, its half a days trip. Well worth the money :)
