I made a detour on my way back to Villach from Alpe Adria.Although from Tarvisio it is only 10km,you need to cross the Predul Pass,so it was a challenge for me but thanks to this I made my first mountain pass by bike:) quite a few speedy bikers and me on my trekking bike,but drivers were very cautuous there. Once you get there, it is quite crowdy close to the restaurant, but when I was there, it was not crowdy in the lake itself.It is amazing that you can swim there,which I of course did,as the water that day was just perfect! Except of a few SUPs in a distance,I felt I have the Lake for myself when swimming!:) If you are into bikes and into swimming as well,then do not hesitate to visit if you have some free time!

Path gyrolago little signposted and very bad. It is described on the net as a walk along the lake instead at a certain point you climb the slope a lot with a piece of rope crossing, I was with my dog so I found it difficult.

My family and I took the Predil lake path to escape from the heat of the plain. The landscape is beautiful and then you can cool off with a swim in the lake. The path is suitable for everyone but children must be used to walking A section of the trail is quite uphill and slippery at times. Trekking shoes are necessary!
The last stretch of the path is poorly signposted, you end up on the state road and you don't understand where to go. Going through the tunnel on foot is decidedly dangerous.

.....they dominate everything, perhaps because the holiday crowds had passed and it was a working day.
We built a seat using tree trunks abandoned on the ground, an uncomfortable, hard and not very advisable seat but this allowed us to stop in a place where there were no people and fully enjoy nature.
Incredible and crystal clear water and people in the distance using apparently inaccessible beaches and swimming peacefully. Very happy and loud children, free in nature. Beautiful experience that I recommend.

Beautiful natural lake nestled in the Carnic Alps. Striking colors and clear waters, although cold but bathing.
Very nice to do in Sup.
It is worth the loop, there are about 150-200 meters of altitude difference and you need proper shoes.
Recommended!

I actually arrived there by coincidence. I spent the day there sun bathing and renting a pedal in the lake. The weather was really good and the view is amazing. I would totally recommend going there.

We came to Lago del Predil yesterday and had such a great time. It's perfect for swimming, cooling on a hot summer day... It's surrounded with beautiful mountains and peaks. It's very close to a spectacular high road of Mangart (Slovenia). Since we are from the coastal country (Croatia) and have a lot of sea and islands we are delighted to come to Predil once in a while for a nice change. There's a beautiful road towards Chiusaforte with lots of peaks around. It's also very near to a charming town of Tarvisio. If you're a nature lover it's a must!!!! 👍

We live in Trenta and usually go and visit Lake Bled or Bohinj which takes between 2-2:30 hours and is a pain to drive to as the mountain pass is so bendy. Irritatingly as the crow flies the lakes are only around 20 miles away but a great big mountain's in the way.
So when a friend recommended Lago del Predil over the border in Italy we have it a try.
Getting there from Bovec was easy via the Predil pass. A good tip was as you go past the lake was to ignore the car park and continue to the other end of the lake; past a memorial on your right and soon on the left were some spaces and a dirt track leading to the lake.
The best place to sit was towards the middle as the water is warmer there.
Majestic lake, really quiet, quite cold but welcome on a hot day.
We really enjoyed it. If you have young kids bring a sun shade as it is really open.

Assolutamente si: facile parcheggio, pineta e un lago meraviglioso. Ideale per i tuoi picnic. Se vuoi continuare la visita in zona puoi raggiungere facilmente il monte Montasio che offre sentieri, malghe e una vista incantevole
