Arrive just before sunset and walk in from the car park. As soon as the gorge gets dark the entire place is covered in glow worms- the trees, the rock walls, everything!

Great short walk this one. I was a bit confused though with the natural tunnel viewing point and the signs to the car park. Bring a flash light so you can have a look in the cave. Cute tunnel you can walk through and you...More

An excellent walk through the native bush to see the river flowing into, through and out of the caves. The walk includes a tunnel, and quite a lot of steps, but is well worth it.

Our host told us this was NZ's best short walk--and I don't think there was much exaggeration. Amazing 30-40 minute free walk along tropical forest paths that become cantilevered wooden walkways high above the rush gorge below--most corners are through natural holes and small caves--keep...More

Enjoyed this very easy walk. Only c. 40 minutes (with our 5 year old). Even with a little rain, it was very nice.

This is such a wonderful walk with amazing views from waterfalls to caves its got it all. It's only a 35-45 minute walk and it's not all challenging so it's a walk everybody can do and I recommend that you go do it.

This is a quick little walk but you get to go through some tunnels. Check out the sign at the start of the track to make sure you know where you are going. If you go at night you can see glow worms.

Yes, it took us 2.5 hours from near Auckland airport to the caves. This was in a motorhome and driving steadily.
