A winery in a class of its own!!!
Jan 2021
During our recent online cooking class with Locanda Demetra (Marta and Allesandro) we broke out a few bottles of our favorite Brunellos - all, of course, from Castello Romitorio! On several trips to the winery Daniele and staff have always been gracious and inviting, making it a favorite place to visit each time we travel to Tuscany. We thank Noemi for the introduction!! We have airline tickets to return in Sept and remain hopeful that conditions will allow the trip. For now, we hope and pray that the great folks at Romitorio are safe, healthy, surviving this tough time. And THANKS for the fantastic wine we continue to enjoy at home!

Best wine experience
Sep 2019
If you love great wine and art, you must visit Castello Romitorio. Six of us enjoyed the most wonderful tour by Daniele who was so generous with his time and knowledge and wine. This is an incredibly special place, it is hard to describe. You can feel Sandro Chia's love for the property and the wine as you are surrounded by his amazing art. It was the most glorious afternoon filled with vineyard and winery visits, a delicious lunch and wine tasting and the most heartfelt hospitality. We will be looking forward to receiving a few cases of their wines and remembering this special day.

Special place! We were guided by Daniele who showed us all the state in its details. Montalcino is magical with a volcano around and Mediterranean Sea an hour long... Great ancient soil full of richness and we can even see fossil in the stones. The result: wonderful Sangiovese grosso grapes growing. Like Daniele mentioned, after the nature’s work, they just follow the rules to make great Brunellos!!! The place has artworks all around, the view is just amazing and the price of the visit and the wines are absolutely affordable! Cheers!!!

Best Winery Tour Ever!
Jun 2019 • Friends
We had the best winery tour ever. I have been to many wineries all over the world. Spain, the US, Australia, and Italy. This winery was absolutely the best. Daniele our host was incredibly knowledgable and took his time with us. We were not rushed because he had to another tour. We had a great wine tasting with lunch. I highly recommend this winery. Oh, and the wine is outstanding.

What an incredible day here!
Oct 2018 • Family
Our group of 8 booked at Romitorio, and Daniele toured us through the winery, and then we did a tasting and salami/cheese lunch. What a dream! We were treated like VIP's and he opened up some very old special wines. The brunello's are incredible! If you like a small, boutique winery, visit here. You will love the experience.

A Day to Remember!
Jul 2017
We had the privilege of visiting Castello Romitorio with our children and my parents last summer - what a magical, wonderful, place. The wine is spectacular and the food was perfect. The setting couldn't be more amazing, and the privilege of seeing the art work of Sandro Chia on display around the vineyard and tasting room was magical.

Castello Romitorio - one of the hidden gems in Montalcino
Jul 2017 • Friends
We discovered Brunello Romitorio some time ago at a dinner in Siena and in spring last year used a weekend trip to Rome to escape for one day to pay Daniela a visit.

What an experience! The booked wine tasting was a culinary explosion of Tuscany delicatessen. All accompanied by different wines.

Of course we did the tour in the winery, too.

We left with a trunk full of cases and certainly will return !

Very personal and dedicated treatment by Daniele and Tullia.

Wonderful!
Sep 2017 • Couples
We stayed at Poggio di Sopra and thought it would be great to see the winery associated with it. Our villa manager Chris arranged for his wife Tulia to give us a tour and it was perfect! The winery sits on a beautiful hill and has artwork everywhere by the owner / artist Sandro Chia. We toured the grapes, the wine production, and then tasted the lovely Brunellos. Tulia and Chris were generous with their time, and very fun and seem to love the winery. It was a wonderful day!

One of the best wine tastings
Jul 2016 • Couples
We made reservations for wine tasting ahead via email which was easy with quick responses from Daniele. Found it easy and had nice private tour of the lovely winery and learnt even more then onto wonderful room for tastings. Super impressed by whole experience and they have some amazing wines so we ordered a case to be shipped back to us in USA and can't wait to try them again. Will certainly go back again next time we're in Montalcino.

Awesome couple of hours, Daniel was super knowledgeable, wines fantastic, well worth the trip....kids had fun playing outside while mums & dads did tasting. Enjoy the artwork as well....Stay at their villa, Poggio Del Sopra, take a massive run/walk to the tastings...GOLD!
