This museum is within walking distance of the Pontedera train station. It is very interesting and well done. Clean and the displays are amazing. I never knew there were so many Vespas! Great for kids as well.

i was so excited...
Sep 2019 • Couples
i was so excited to go there. i drove a Granturismo 125 cm for 14 years. and now i have a Primavera Yachtclub 125 cm. i-love-vespas. there are the best scooters. they ride fantastic. so as we were in Pisa we had to visit the Piaggio museum.

fantastic. OMG...hundreds of models. so beautiful. the old models had some crazy additions on them that are not on todays models. unbelievable how people travelled all over europe with them. so robust!

NOTE:

getting to the museum the one way there was 65 euros with a taxi. our hotel receptionist did not even tell us that we could walk down to the main railroad station and take the train there when we asked her how to get there. "taxi" she said. we were not amused as we found out going back to Pisa...that a train station was a little down the road from the museum and for 2 tickets it was only...if i recall correctly only €5,50. so, be aware.

History of the scooter museum
Aug 2019
Lots of scooters to see. Place very clean. Bring camera to take photos. It's not an all day event. What I found interesting the history of the scooters. I was surprised there was no admission cost free to look around.

Outstanding experience

Fantastic place, interesting things to read, beautiful vehicles, and just a “time travel” feeling to the 1950s.

Modern design, easy to understand English explanations for vehicles.

I’m not into cars/scooters/motorbikes but I was enjoying this place, because it spreads the feelings of the 50’s, and creativity.

What a brilliant place.

We visited about 12 years ago and it was fun, but how it has changed! Absolutely brilliant! So much effort has been put in to this little museum, there’s something for everyone and you don’t have to be a cycle fan. It has Italian class, very well set out, a little cafe and great toilets. We spent two hours, got some amazing photos and loved it! Make the effort you won’t be disappointed.

Unusual, quirky and fascinating

We loved this museum (and we aren’t Vespa enthusiasts).

If you are interested in creativity, mechanical ingenuity, design or social history there will be something here for you.

Largely devoted to a single product the museum tells the story of how the Vespa was conceived, developed, launched and updated for more than 70 years. Along the way it shows how Vespas contributed to the healing, development and harmonisation of Italy after the war and got Europe and then the world’s young mobile.

It also shows how it became a style icon and includes many one offs and oddities from world speed record holders to a Dali decorated Vespa.

The museum also houses Aprillia racing bikes, Motoguzzi and Gilera models as well as a small selection of beautiful and important British engineered motorcycling master pieces.

A really enjoyable morning
