We were persuaded by a boat owner, who was obviously a friend of our taxi driver,to take a 2 hour ride at a reasonable price. As soon as we started off, realised it was going to be chilly as the boat's roof kept most of the sun off.Only saw a few birds (have had more in my garden),of which just the white ibis... An utterly incredible place - one of Europe's most beautiful areas - with spectacular views and biodiversity but not for much longer. Like many natural wonders in the Balkans, planned unsustainable development within the National Park will lead to it's destruction. Go now before it's too late.

It might have been better in the summer but for us we paid 20 Euro each for a 1 hour and 5 minute boat ride in a slow boat. It was a 20'skif with a 8HP motor. We were supposed to have a guide that spoke english but at the last minute we were told that he only spoke russian.... More

This National Park will be a good choice for those who love history and ecological tours. The beauty of the lake will touch even those who rarely go for open air trips. Tranquility and piece -- all you feel when the boat is moving on the mirror surface ... The restaurant on the lake border offers cheap meals (fresh river... More

One of the not-so-hidden treasures of Montenegro, Lake Skadar is an amazing place to visit. Whether you want to hike, stay, boat, wander, it's got lots to see. We took a boat trip with Skadar Lake Cruise, 1-2 hours and enjoyed some of the last rays of summer. Lots of birds, sampled water walnuts and saw a couple of kingfishers,... More

We did a trip to lake Skadar while in Montenegro. What a picturesque place, very beautiful. Plenty of birds if this is what you like to see. The tour we took was with globtour Montenegro. I have to say they were very good accommodating us last minute. They kept in contact with me at all times at our hotel until... More

The trip to Skadar lake was a highlight of ours and one which was slightly unexpected. We drove to the small village of Virpazar and on arrival was shown to a free car park and then asked if we would like a lake trip, slightly unsure and a little dubious we followed with the thought of 'what have we to... We were a little worried that a visit on a cloudy mid-October day might not give us the best impression of this national park. Fear not, whilst the water may not have been warm enough for a swim, the lack of other boats on the water effectively meant that, for 2 hours, the lake was ours. The views are magnificent,... More

Very pleasant day out on a nice day. Arrived at Virpazar and the Lake Skadar National Park Visitors Centre. After a coffee we walked to the Monument to the Partizans and Heroes of the World War II and took the boat out through the long channel and out on to the lake. Sailed under the road/rail bridge as a train... More

Had a 2 hour boat trip around this huge lake that borders both Montenegro and Albania. We saw a variety of birds including kingfishers, coots and grebe. Stopped off for a for lunch of local fish , which were rather boney at a lakeside cafe.
