Was expecting more from Benvardin, seems like a half-hearted attempt. Cafe is dismal, luckily the weather was good and we could sit outside. £5 per adult is expensive for what you get.

We visited Benvarden on a cool, damp day on the recommendation of local friends and we loved it - on a sunny day it must be glorious. This is a private residence (i.e. not National Trust or similar) which is a small working estate welcoming visitors to the grounds for a nominal fee. The walled garden was full of produce,... More

Lovely walled garden and much bigger than first meets the eye. Some very pretty areas and even a giant bear! Definitely worth a visit.

Benvarden is a 17th/18th century estate that includes a fine walled produce garden, an ancillary flower garden with fish pond, a cobbled courtyard surrounded by old stone buildings and marked walks through landscaped spaces past scattered sculptures to a nearby pond and a privately built bridge over the river Bush.
