We visited Pratapgarh fort at a distance of 20 km from Mahabaleshwar in evening. The fort was built by Shivaji Maharaj. The fort is popular in History of India as Commander of Bijapur Afzalkhan was defeated and killed by Shivaji Maharaj at Pratapgad. On the top there is a temple of Bhavani Mata. My granddaughter insist me to climb so... More

It is one of the best places to visit in Mahabaleshwar. Placed strategically on a hill-top, the fort was originally built by Maratha rulers in 1665.

The fort is having average gradient and a regular climber can climb it in less than 10 minutes. At the base of the fort, guide facility is available who takes Rs.300/- as charges and the guide would then provide the details about the various places inside the fort. The views from the top of the Fort are beautiful and scenic.

It is half a day trip. Climb of 450 steps. Could be little tiring if not used to. Worth all the effort. Historical with lots of valor. On the way one should definitely not miss Shivakaleen a created village with lots of photoshoot options. An amazingly creation. Lot of care has been take to create the natural and retain the... Pratapgadh is about 1 to 1.5 hours drive from mahabaleshwar. It's a ghat drive throughout and the road has bad patches. The final mile to pratapgadh is narrow, bad condition. The parking is limited so people park vehicles on the approach road. We were lucky to get a spot. There is a guide booth at the entrance and the guide... More

The fort needs a good amount of physical activity. We enjoyed our journey here and the views are scenic.

My visit to Pratapgarh Fort was a small trip down history. The road leading towards the fort is good and you can take the transport right upto where the stairs start. There are around 450 winding steps which take you atop the fort . the statue of Shivaji Maharaj on top is very nice. On the way up there are... More

The approach road to the fort is pretty steep but view from top is good. Need to climb over 450 steps to visit the temple and shivaji statue so you need to be in physical shape to do so. There are about 20 -25 families residing in this private who are all descendents of Shivaji maharaj and his army. Small... More

the road to pratapgadh from mahabaleshwar is roughly 40 min and in a very bad shape.. super curvaceous ghats! we reached till the parking, looked up and became wary of climbing 100+ stairs just to see a view which can be done at any other view points. Elders and kids should avoid this.
