An exceptional military citadel with a terrific panoramic view over the 1870s battlefield

From Brussels Zaventem airport, it takes about 2 hours to reach Sedan. The city is a nice example of urban development during the Renaissance period. It is hard to imagine that this massive building was set up at the same time when the delicate French Loire river castles were built. The former was built for border control, the latter for... More

A standard decent hotel in a very unique building. Rooms are fit for purpose although nothing exceptional. Breakfast was good and the staff friendly and helpful. What lifts this hotel is the building and appreciation of its scale. This would been a formidable fortress when protecting France's northern borders. It is also a unique place to stay to check out... I have been in enough castles before that I considered skipping this stop but I am very glad I didn't! This is a historically strategic location in Europe so there is a great deal of history to cover on a visit. The tour is at your own pace and covers more of the castle than I expected. It was very... The 'corporate castle' I thought the staff were as cold as the castle walls ! Not adaptable to leisure visitors to offer the personal touch We were woke by 730 refrigerated delivery lorries unloading with the fridge engine running a full pelt ! Followed by workman using the front seating area as a workshop ! With the smokers below our... More

Went here on a Sunday so not very busy, excellent mornings visit with exhibits well laid out and information supplied in English. Plenty of stairs to negotiate but well worth while, nice souvenir shop and café. Plenty of parking

The entrance was somewhat difficult to find, as it is not signed at all and is not at the banners that seem to indicate an entrance, but only lead to a locked door. Go to the left from the parking lot, once you find it, it will be worth the effort. The castle is quite impressive. Having the description also... More

We visited this hotel for one night as a group (of five couples) on a battlefield tour in October 2016. The hotel is very impressive and a very comfortable place to stay. I had stayed here before and we opted for the 'senior suites' but they weren't worth the extra over a standard room, which I had stayed in previously.... More

Starting from underground tunnels and chambers, up on the roof of the castle. The visiting route is not a short one. A lot of interesting and mysterious corridors, stairs, chambers and towers. Visiting that castle you will haven't time to be bored. At the end you may feel slightly tired but satisfied.. :)

This is an interesting place, possibly the only thing worth visiting in the town. The fort is really imposing, in well maintained condition and you could just imagine the roar of battles at the bottom of the walls. Part of the fort has been converted into a hotel, so you might want to give it a try. If you don't... More

We spent the night at the Chateau after a great day tour of the Maginot Line. The Suite that we had was extremely comfortable with very nice amenities. We really liked the bathroom, the spaciousness of the room overall, the personal WiFi for our room, and the ability to walk out the back door onto the Ramparts of the Fort.... More
