“The museum opens for the 2017 season on Sunday March 26 at 10am. The Grampian Transport Museum is a living museum that probes the past, present and future. Many exhibits are climb aboard, hands on and even ride on!

Every season the museum refreshes around one third of its exhibits –this year’s exhibition includes the Guy Martin collection; Guy has very kindly loaned the museum several items from his personal collection including a stunning Rolls Royce Merlin engine from a Spitfire, several of his motorbikes plus the Gravity racer which he crashed spectacularly at 90mph.

A few old favourites remain, including Billy Connolly’s Boom Lowrider motortrike, as seen in his ‘World Tour of England, Ireland and Wales’ TV show and the ex-Grampian Police Rover SD1 Vitesse.

The museum continues to celebrate the Scottish Motor Industry with ‘Made in Scotland’ – showcasing a number of Scottish made vehicles, including the Linwood made Hillman Imp.

This year the museum is celebrating the bicentenary of the bicycle with a special exhibition that explores the routes of the modern bicycle and celebrates 200 years of one of the greatest transport revolutions.

Continuing in 2017 is the GTM's very own Junior Driving School - a fun and educational introduction to road safety and driving for 4 to 10 year olds.

Open 10am – 5pm daily, April – September and 10am – 4pm until October 29.”

Super morning at the museum, which is looking great - it's a while since we'd been. The Guy Martin collection is really interesting and the Easter egg and chick hunt kept the eldest amused, but she also loved the junior driving school (small additional fee)which is well done. Cafe offers great homemade sandwiches and good coffee. Entrance fee very reasonable... More

Very interesting and well laid out exhibits. Especially interesting for the older generation as we can remember some of the cars, vans etc. Saw my first car and that of my husband! Enjoyed lunch in the café - only problem it was a bit understaffed. Quizzes for the children are a great idea.

Visited during Easter holidays with my family. Really impressed with the exhibits on offer, there is a lot packed into a small area. The Guy Martin area is a great addition. The information on each exhibit was just enough to be able to read before the kids wanted to look at something else! The snow plough is a real favourite... More

Had a good visit to the Museum. Enjoyed the displays and the historic vehicles. Topped of by a nice coffee in the café. The iPads are a great touch. Very informative when walking round. Finally saw a Ford RS200 up close....

Steeped in history and great displays of vehicles through the decades. Super little track for young kids to get their 'driving license'! Great atmosphere when there's something on - speedfest etc. Very educational!

I hadn't been in the area in 26years. My wife and I were staying in Aberdeen for our anniversary and decided to pop over on our way home. Loved the vehicles on show. The Fords, the TVR, The Datsun, yeh the Ferraris are nice but in a way that's out of our reach. Staff were friendly. If we're in the... More

Great place to visit. So much to see. Small railway for a wee run around the town. Good day out and not expensive. Something for all ages.

What a gem of a museum. Fantastic exhibits, especially the many vehicles manufactured (sadly no longer) in Scotland eg Albion, Argyll, Arrol-Johnston

What a surprise find in Alford! So well stocked with vehicles from every period and such a lot to do for young and old alike. My 8 year old loved the driving lessons in the grounds!
