It's a cultural center that houses four exhibition rooms, a media library, an auditorium, multipurpose lounges, a Caribbean menu cafeteria sand a shop where you can buy selected products, related to and prepared by national art crafters and from the Great Caribbean. In the gardens there's a collection of sculptures, native and endemic plants, with birds and reptiles that make an aviary their home. Besides meeting the standards set by the International Council of Museums and the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization, Centro León carries out a vary of programs and projects related to art, culture and environmental topics, that benefit community development throughout the strengthening of three central focuses: creativity, identity and habitability. Thanks to the cooperation of private donors and partnerships arranged with responsible businesses and cultural institutions in the country and from the world, Centro León works for the Dominicans in a Caribbean context through art and culture. Great museum to enjoy a brief history of the Dominican Republic, Dominican modern art, and a nice and relaxing time with your family. If you have young children, you'll love to take them to the children's section of the Mediateca and read books to them...More

The museum has first-rate exhibitions of cultural items, and features paintings and photographs by Dominican artists. A unique collection, in an architecturally lovely building and beautiful grounds. A nice cafe for lunch and a small bird sanctuary are extras. Well worth the visit.

I loved to go back to when I was a child and see the many things that were around in those days. It was so well presented, clean and very inviting! The gift shop was amazing and had many unusual gift items.

We were recommended to stop for lunch. They have a wonderful cafe next to the museum. Wish we understood more Spanish for the exhibits were fascinating: paleontology, geology, colonial history, as well as current artistic works from famous DR artists.

The display of local history, going back to pre-Columbian times, was fascinating. The only disappointment was the modern art in the art gallery. I don't blame Centro Leon, but rather the fact that so much modern 'art' is just depressing self-indulgent rubbish.
