We were lucky enough to walk the Dog Stream Waterfall track. It was quite steep with paths zig-zagging up the slope, but the 2.5 hour return was fairly accurate, although we did it in less time. Such amazing scenery.
Used hired bikes to go on the easy rider path. Was quite a picturesque place and also allowed us to escape the heat as it has some high cover over the multiple paths within the Forest.
All you need is a $3 map of the mountain bike tracks the forest has to offer, all graded from easy to advanced and you are ready to go and enjoy the forest (providing you have a bike). Beware though, advanced means advanced, steep ascents...More
I love coming to Hanmer with the family. There is something for everyone! We come here regularly with the grandparents & our children. This is a picture I took this morning while running. There are so many great tracks for running, walking & biking.
Great scenic trail with enough challenges for the whole family but not too long if you are less bike fit. Handy to village bike hire.

Lovely easy ride through the forest on well signed track. Can choose to extend the ride and go around the township a bit. Found a wee animal park on our travels.
Well laid out delightful tracks. Separate river walk for dogs. The trees are well labelled with their history and usage.
Lots of tracks for walking and biking. You can hire bikes in the village and the tracks good for beginners. Very sheltered in the woods if it's raining.
