It's worth the cost. You should buy an online ticket before visiting (if planned), because it is very famous for other people, and the queues can be long. Otherwise it is a good experience for getting to know the history of the State Salzburg. Warm...More

We enjoyed our visit to Hallein on a very rainy day. You dress up in overalls, travel in on a small train and then take miners slides down - you get the chance to do two so you can go faster the second time! Not...More

Walking the salty tunnels and taking a boat ride across the underground brine lake is fun -- and they say inhaling salt is good for you. The shop sells good salt, too.

The tour itself was wonderful experience. We had a train ride and then a boat ride. There were also 2 slides which one can skip if unable to go on it but it is an excellent experience. The guide gives us a proper history of...More

Th salt mine was recommended by staff at our hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The tour took about 75min and you take a motorize trail like and 2 slides and a boat - really lots of fun and very informative.

Hi, I understand there are two salt mines open to the public for tours, I'm not sure which one to do? We would love to go on the slides and the train, and the one with the boat/raft ride on the lake with the amazing luminous colours. We are a family with a 4-yr-old, and going to catch train/bus from Salzburg. Thanks!

Line 41 runs from several points near Hallein. Get off at the Bad Durrenberg/Salzbergwerk stop on this line. That stop is directly across from mine ticket office and parking lot. From Salzberg take bus 170 (160 goes there... More

Is there any danger with the slides? Is there bottom body support on the slide or are you needing strength in your legs to go over the rails, hold on and balance? It's hard to tell from the pictures. Is this okay for some who are age 60 or 70, mobile but perhaps not so strong? How fast do the slides go? Like rollercoaster scary?
