Is an easy climb, but I suggest it in the early morning, to avoid the midday heat. What I (and may 8 years old kid) liked the most is the unique opportunity to climb down to the very bottom of the crater.

The fire line starts on mount Etna, close to. Catania and continues on Vulcano and Stromboli to end on the Vesuvio in Naples. The Vulcano active crates offers a huge sulphuric emission. Last eruption was on 1888 and climbing the mountain you can see the...More

We had done the walk up Stromboli a few days earlier, so this was a mere stroll by comparison. However, use your common sense. Do wear sensible footwear, take water and possibly a hat and suncream depending on time of year. The way is marked...More

A moderate hike for an Amazon no payoff. See all the islands from the top plus the smoking volcano. I was here 14 years before and rarely return; but the views from this volcano were one reason why. If you are in the the islands...More

This is a must do when visiting the Eolian islands. It is a relatively short hike. The views from the top are unbeatable. They span from all the islands of the archipelago, to mount Etna in the distance, to the crater down below. Excellent and...More

2,5 km, 300 m up,so not terrible. But the first part of the trail is lavic sand and so it's difficult to walk. But going up, you see the map of Vulcano first, then Lipari and Salina. If it's a windy day,you can see Stromboli. You could...More

We traveled to Isola di Vulcano on a day trip from Cefalu. This hike has it all: a relatively easy walk up the volcano to the crater (there were lots of young families), free "admission", fabulous views from the top, and an interesting assortment of...More

Magnificent views are waiting on top of the volcano! And the gas and smoke emission is stunning. Better go early in the morning or before sunset to avoid crowds.
