This is a wonderful little museum, brilliantly laid out and with captions in English as well as French, Spanish and Catalan. We were there for over an hour and the ludicrously low charge for us "jubilados" was €1.50 each - money very well spent. It tells the story of the growth and eventual decline of the cork industry based in... More

An absolutely fabulous museum and well worth a visit. I had never appreciated the work involved in producing a cork and it was fascinating to learn all the skills involved and to compare them with the introduction of machinery. Lots for both adults and children to experience and some wonderful photos. It doesn't take long to visit, but it really... More

One of those things that I hadn't really given much thought to but this museum provided some background and insight into cork production and the use of corks in the context of the local wine industry. Definitely worth a visit, especially on wet/windy day or to take a break from the heat. It also has an interesting museum shop containing... More

An unusual choice of subject but really fascinating . Cork is not just for wine bottles . You will really enjoy this stylish museum and then visit the art museum next door . Both are very reasonably priced .

Gave an insight into how cork was harvested, processed and turned into a variety of goods not just 'corks'. Interesting array of machinery for making a variety of cork objects. Staff were friendly and the shop had interesting cork souvenirs.

Museum is located in the center of Palafrugell, a beautiful city. Cork at one time was the main industry in this city. There is several old machinery that was used in the production of cork with excellent explanations about the function of each machine. Several old photographs of the individuals working at the plant and a movie explaining the production... More

I've been loads of time with school and it's really well set up. The explanations are really good, and it's temporary exhibitions are really interesting to see. The tour guides are really nice and very good explaining.

But a real revelation. The international connection was interesting as was the scale of the cork industry in the local area.

Cork was the main industry in Palafrugell & at one time practically everyone who lived in the town was connected to it. The Museo del Suro (Cork Museum) is a hommage to the thousands of men and women who worked in the numerous factories that once thrived there. The museum is built on part of what was the biggest factory... More

Stumbled across this museum by mistake and so glad that we did. However, it is not hard to find. It shows the history of cork, particularly in Palafrugell and it is fascinating! It gave us a whole new respect for cork.
