Nice collection of local goods

This facility offers a variety of local goods which they sell for a good cause. It is worth a stop to see the hand made items.

Be sure to stop here while in Monte Verde -- beautiful local handwork at very reasonable prices -- and you can be sure the artisans are getting their fair share of the earnings. Close to the delicious Tramonti restaurant.

CASEM is the only souvenir shop located in the Monteverde Community that sells arts and crafts made by local artists. These group of women started their coop many years ago and have gone a long way. They are working hard to acquire all they need to teach other women how to create art and provide a way to help each... More

The owner of the house we stayed at brought us here. And boy were we thankful for it! We had the special root and beef soup, both the cheese and chicken empanadas, and braised beef with home made freshly ground corn tortilla. They were all amazing! The passion fruit juice was very tasty. I wish we had room to eat... More

The restaurant at CASEM offers authentic Costa Rican cooking at a good price. The food is reliably delicious served in huge portions. The arroz con pollo is some of the best around. It is not fancy, but it is a comfortable, kid-friendly place and the staff is always friendly.

My family stopped here after noticing the sign which advertised local traditional food. Being foodies, we had to explore. The restaurant was tucked in the back of CASEM and the first thing we noticed when walking in was the handmade tables and chairs and the large display of fruits and vegetables on the centerpiece. The menu was handwritten on a... More

We stopped to shop and get lunch on the recommendation of a local. Excellent lunch for an amazingly small price. All goods made locally with a nice selection.

All goods are locally made so my family made sure to stop in and buy gifts at Casem. Impressive and diverse selection. Casem is also a great bird-watching spot.

Some of the best food I ate in Costa Rica came from this little restaurant. Great price! Fantastic juice! We ate there twice and would have gone back for more if we were there longer. Nice art shop as well with mostly very good prices. We bought a few things there, and not really anywhere else.

I was concerned as the lonely planet book described them as "underwhelming". Not at all. As many items there are hand made, they could look like junk but we found many items that couldn't be found in the town centre. Wonderful initiative too. There is a great cafe just next to it, a coop coffee shop. Lovely place to sit... More
