I'm a bit piazzaed out after 7weeks in Italy. It is pretty, but small. This was part of the big plan of planned community by Pope Pius II

This is the perfect example of a charming little villiage. It is pleasing to the eye and feels authentic. It is also not very crowded which makes it more than unique.

Very nice (and small) historical center with few tourists as it is quite hard to get there. Great views on Toscannian valley.

We visited The Cathedral of the Asumption of the Blessed Mary a focal point of the plaza. Pienze is a beautiful unspoiled Unesco Heritage site and is well worth a visit. It has breathtaking views, small shops and several lovely old restaurants.

The Piazza Pio II is a the very core and a perfect place where to have a relazing walk when in Pienza. Seat in the surroundings tasting an Italian gelato and enjoy the view and the atmosphere.

Piazza Pio is in the centre of the Tuscan jewel that is Pienza, and it is just so easy to imagine what it might have been like at the time the city was built.

Visited Pienza for the first time this August and now know why the Piazza Pio II is the must-see sight in town. As the guidebooks say, this is where Renaissance urbanism all started before it became so established around Italy, but seeing it in person...More
