Walk along the whole lake front and enjoy the serenity. Wear sturdy shoes as the bank is mostly pebbles.

Me and my husband stopped to view lake Tekapo, it was a sight to see. Breathtaking just doesn’t do it justice. The sun was shining which always helps. The unusual blue water was gorgeous and photos just didn’t do it justice. I would have loved...More

The foreshore of this beautiful place is a bloody disgrace. Seems the local council has no interest in making this an enjoyable place to visit. There is ample room for a decent road to be down to the waterfront with parking, bbq’s, to make it...More

Weekend trip for hot pools and Mount John observatory. Brilliant weather. Lots of accommodation available but often expensive. Restaurants can get busy too and some need reservations. Very cold at night. And chilly during the day in autumn. Beautiful NZ.

My husband and I stayed right opposite the lake just after a snowfall in April so the views over the lake to the snow capped mountains were amazing.

We arrived at Lake Tekapo where we stayed for the night. This is a major ski village / resort - with a huge turquoise coloured lake ringed by snow capped mountains (in winter at least). Summer is for water skiing - although with cold water...More
