Very beautiful Lake. We drove by and were fascinated by the light blue color, due to minerals from the glaciers being washed into the lake and thus reflecting the sunlight. You can kayak or canoe on the lake, no motor vehicles allowed, thus very peaceful. The are natural hot pools by the lake for everyone to use. The small city... More

Lake Tekapo is a beautiful lake! The color of the water is like a picture on a postcard, it felt like it was a dream! This is a must-see for anyone coming to New Zealand! Also, it's a good star-gazing place. Here's a hopefully helpful suggestion: bundle up, and bring a tripod for catching shots of the stars.

Not to be missed in a tour of South Island. Stunning and accessible location. Great walks and views in the surrounding area.

Absolutely beautiful, amazing piece of New Zealand... Lake Tekapo is a MUST DO if traveling New Zealand. To be fair, we visited in summer. I would suggest it would be very different in the winter months... However, for those who favour the snow and skiing/ snow boarding, the number of ski slopes in the area would be a big hit!... More

Wow. I have never seen a lake so beautiful. The color of the water is unreal, and we were fortunate to be there when the lupins were in bloom. My only regret was that we did not have more time. I would have loved to be able to find a place to just sit and enjoy the magnificent scenery!

One of our favorite lakes we visited on the South Island. There was plenty of places to take photos and just take in the breath taking views.

The Lake is a very pretty lake. If you visit Tekapo make sure you take a trip up to the Mt John observatory and the cafe though. It won't be open in extreme weather but if the weather is good the view will delight you.

This lake is breathtaking. Don't plan to swim though , the water is freezing. The colour of the lake makes you feel like your in the bahamas. Lots of good choices for coffee or lunch and a number of activities to keep the family occupied. Certainly worth a visit.

Amazing lake - stunning blue water with snow capped mountains in the background - you couldn't ask for anything more! We walked around and watched the ducks and ducklings - the kids enjoyed the flying fox!
