About
A working letterpress printshop with vintage presses. Try printing on our 180-year-old iron handpress. Experience how books used to be made - and sometimes still are! The shop area features cards, prints, chapbooks and handmade books by variety of Newfoundland and Labrador-based printers, including Running the Goat. It also carries the press's line of fine trade books, featuring a series of award-winning folktales by CODCO alumnus Andy Jones, and books and audio books from other local publishers.

We heard so much about this bookstore unfortunately on our visit around the Irish Loop it was closed. However it is still worth the drive. Tors Cove and Burnt Cove have stunning scenery well worth the visit to the area.

My husband is a letterpress printer and illustrator, so one of the first destinations I put on our itinerary for our trip to Newfoundland was Running the Goat. In the course of our trip we encountered books published by Running the Goat - mostly children's books - in nearly every gift shop and heritage shop. Many of these books are created by Newfoundland artists and authors and have local subject matter or local interest. We were very excited to finally be pulling in at Tors Cove, and our enthusiasm grew to full blown vacation euphoria when we found that our visit coincided with an appearance by Bernice Morgan, who wrote Random Passage and has recently written a children's book which was published by Running the Goat. So not only did we get to puchase the book at the publisher's own shop, and meet the lovely one-woman show who runs the publishing and printing business, we also got to meet Bernice Morgan and her daughter Jennifer Morgan (a printer and illustrator) and have them both sign our purchases. Meantime, we had a great time browsing through all the prints by various artists, handmade and hand printed books, and books for children and adults, both from Running the Goat and from other publishers. I highly recommend a visit to the shop, but if you don't make it down to Tors Cove, look for their books in other shops. I also want to thank Running the Goat for their warmth and hospitality when we visited! It was like seeing old friends, even though we'd never met!

This lovely little establishment features antique printing machinery alongside modern and imaginative new books!! We were so excited to discover this inviting shop just moments off the main Hwy and also pleased to meet the gracious proprietor and host at her work! Needless to say, I came away with a delightful variety of children's picture books to take home to my darling grandchildren in Ontario. Take a few moments to stop by when you travel the Irish Loop!!

Very happy to have dropped in to this lovely little shop that does its own prints on historic presses, which the friendly staff happily demonstrated for us. Also plenty of local books and crafts. Great little place. The cove itself is also a beautiful, picturesque spot.

Tucked back off the main road and with a view of the sea this small unassuming little book store is a great find. I visited in April, or the off season when the store is open by only by chance.or by appointment Having read about the store and the old printing presses I made it stop on my Irish loop tour agenda
I knew there as good chance it would be closed due to the time of the season and the fact it was a Wednesday morning. I arrived and it was closed so I lingered a few minutes to get a few shots with my camera and just before leaving I met this lovely women who asked if I would like to see the shop . Of course it was the owner and she opened the shop for me!
All the superlatives regarding the shop , books ,unique printing presses are fact. So my advise is to pay a visit to this unique bookstore -you will not be disappointed

Visited here as this had tickled myt husbands fancy when we were looking for places of interest. The lady here is wonderful she took the time to show us her printing presses and explain the basics of hand printing. Her stock though small is excellent and carefully curated. What started as a quick stop for a look (or so I thought) turned into a wonderful conversation, some books for Christmas for a great niece, two teatowels and a number of handmade birtrthday and Christmas cards. Well worth a visit.

We loved this beautiful print shop of independent books, cards, art prints and 3 vintage presses that still work. The owner's friendly cat greeted us and took centre stage as we looked through the wonderfully printed chapbooks and other artworks.
