If you like horses you will love this place
Aug 2019
While it's no longer a stud farm there are still a lot of horses. We were able to watch a dressage demo but an olympic hopeful. Loved seeing the horses.

Fabulous Historic Equestrian Center
Aug 2018 • Couples
We had a knowledgeable, interesting tour guide, who explained that this picturesque equestrian center was established in 1807 by Napoleon. The grounds and stables were amazing to wander through, and the horses were beautiful. The demonstration by a trainer of the horses responding to her commands was something to see. We followed this up with a walk through Cluny Abbey which made this a thoroughly enjoyable day!

Interesting Couple Of Hours.
Jul 2018 • Friends
Haras National de Cluny was a real surprise find and we thoroughly enjoyed wandering around the stables and exhibits with a French guided group. Basically the stables, as Cluny National Stud, date back to the 1800s and holds examples of several regional breeds and stands as a marker for equestrian excellence.

During the tour you get too view several of the breeds, the stables, a historical carriage display and their Blacksmith at work. A very interesting couple of hours. Try and get an English speaking guide, if one's available on the day.

If you like horses you'll love it
Aug 2017 • Family
My girls, and wife, are big on horses so they loved it. I must admit that though I'm not a big horsey person I enjoyed it too. The guide was very helpful and translated into English, even though that was not her role. The horses were beautiful, as were the surroundings. Well worth a visit.

The show should please anyone, the stables are more for horse-lovers...
May 2016 • Friends
If we had been assigned a better guide, I might have appreciated the stable visit more, but the young woman who took us around was unfortunately rather boring and could use some good training on public speaking... for that part of the visit, I would only give 2 or 3 stars at most, primarily for the historical interest of the stables themselves. However, the show we were treated to afterward, with a demonstration of the training methods used for the horses, was fantastic and well woth the money and time spent. There were also two art exhibits, a temporary one of a local equestrian artist based in St Gengoux le National, named Christine Serres, which was excellent (I took her card and went to visit her gallery in St Gengoux, a must-see for horse lovers!!). The other one was a permanent exhibit of animal sketches that resembled cartoons and artistically did nothing for me.

Evening horse extravaganza!
Aug 2016 • Friends
Decide to do the evening horse show event as had heard about the Cluny horse stud and its importance. Not an extravaganza in my interuptretation, however it would seem that the horses are cared for and respond to the training and the skilled professionals. We had a pleasant night especially as it was warm and dry. We enjoyed the evening and appreciated the dedication of the horses and the riders.

Just another interesting spot

If you have visited the Abbey, well, then the Harras is just another nice spot. But not too bad if you are en route avec des enfants ....

Love the Stud Farm!
Jun 2015 • Friends
They have breeds kept here that they are trying to preserve from the Napoleonic war times. Many of them are used as plow horses for the vineyards. They are beautiful, well trained horses and wonderfully preserved stables and grounds. They even did a demonstration for us!

We arrived during the national horseshoe. What a treat to be able to walk from the hotel and see world class jumping.
