About
More than 100,000 Jews, communists, intellectuals, gypsies and homosexuals were killed by Nazis between 1936 and 1945 in this concentration camp. Some of the buildings have been preserved in their original form including barracks, and a pathology department where Nazis performed medical experiments on the inmates.

Well worth the effort to get here. We are both not as fit as we should be and have impaired walking. So it was a real walk from Berlin in terms of trains and local buses. Research these times carefully or you may be sitting waiting on the bus. Set off early from Berlin.
The camp is very sobering and presents a much wider picture around sharing the details of some of the political, academics and homesexual individuals etc as well as the Jewish and Jehovah communities that were imprisoned there too.
The camp needs about three hours to fully manage to read the details and watch the film in the middle.
Take the headsets as they are informative and only 7 euros for two people. That's cheap when it is free entry. We left a donation as the facilities are immaculate.
Bus takes you to and from the railway station as it is quite a walk. The guides all say about a 20 minutes walk but it is quite a way if unfit like we are.

Such an important place to see, study and reflect about how evil took hold of an entire population. The museum and site are extremely informational. There are exhibits throughout several buildings which described the conditions and life of the prisoners. This was intensely personal to me since my cousin had been a prisoner here during WWII. Imagining him here was painful. I left knowing that if it could happen here, it could happen anywhere. The more people learn the better they will be to prevent a repeat of the atrocities.
I used the audio guides offered at the entrance which was well done, but a little hard to hold the map, the earpiece and a camera to take photos. I think I would have preferred to take a guided tour over the audio guide.

After taking the train and bus out to the camp I was mildly underwhelmed. The only part we could look around and get a feeling for the place was the first building which was really interesting. All the other buildings were closed as was the cafe. We went on a Monday so maybe that was our mistake. The covered area was interesting and very moving. Glad we went but not as informative as Neuengammen which also offered a beautiful tribute to those who died at the hands of the Nazis.

A very sobering experience with soooo much information. It really needs a day to take it all in. Very worthwhile getting the audio guide and that's the only expense as the museum is free.

Hard to describe walking through this place and all the emotions that it causes. Most of the original buildings are gone but enough remains or has been rebuilt to give you an idea of what this place was like.

Very interesting, specially because of the thorough explanations of our guide, Ronan. He painted a picture in our minds in regards to the brutality of the Nazi regime.

Very interesting tour and our guide was both knowledgeable and interesting. He told the sad story of what happened with humor and seriousness. I can only give our guide Xavier my warmest recommendations

Did a guided tour to this place. The sorrow is high and i think the world should really learn from the sad past and promote peace, tolerance and respect. We should do everything we can to really say and commit to actions that contribute to never again for such.

Visited here in Sept 2020, following social distancing rules, some very interesting and upsetting displays, a hollow reminder to what took place all those years ago.

How long to have walk from parking lot to get inside of the concentration camp can you rent some wheelchairs or scooters?

It is a lot of walking. I have no idea about wheelchairs.

Fornisce molte informazioni importanti. Costa poco se non ricordo male

I think it should be 11am at the meeting point. But you must email/ phone your tour operator to confirm.
Is it possible to go without a guide?
Can I buy an audioguide in Spanish there?

You could go without a human guide. I am not sure if they have an audioguide in spanish.....
