Liz and I were scheduled for a one week Birds and Art of Venice Tour. It made no sense to travel to Italy for a week so we were put in touch with Marco to program a pre-trip. Marco was marvelous. I sent him about 4 lines in an email about what I wanted to do and he produced exactly... More

When my husband and I travel, we like to get away from overly touristed sites. For this reason, we chose the lovely old town of Arezzo as a base. For two days of our stay we went out with Marco into two different regions of the Arezzo Province, the Casentino and the Val di Chiana. The first day we visited... More

Marco took me to explore some beautiful and interesting places along the Arno. I never could have found them on my own. We hiked on forested trails and along open meadow. I learned about mushrooms, trees, birds, and the environment in general. Marco has a broad and deep knowledge of nature and has a passion for sharing it. I had... More

In September my wife and I spent a day each with Marco and Daniele birding from our base in Montecatini. Our first trip (with Marco) was to lake Massacuiccoli reserve and surrounding area near Pisa, including a small rowing boat trip (with silent electric motor) through the reed beds. Our second (with Daniele) was to Fucecchio reserve (largest Italian inland... More

Flamingos, spoonbills, egrets, herons, kingfishers, more, more, more. My husband and I spent a great day with Daniele. He took us to several great places that we would have never discovered on our own, showed us great birds, and patiently helped us understanding the birds and more of Italy. We had a lovely lunch on the beach and enjoyed spending... More

Mum,Dad and I set off early from Florence to meet Marco who drove us to Ortebello Lagoons. . Absorbing the wild and wooded landscape of Tuscany,Marco and I spotted a Short Toed Eagle cruising past. Marco was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable , it was a joy to listen to him. We arrived at Ortebello and straight away there was Crested... More

Not only did Marco find great birds and sites, but also good restaurants! While driving with him to various places, he kept up a lively conversation about Italian history, politics, and even helped us with pronunciation of Italian. I'm 76 and was traveling with my son and daughter-in-law and my 12-year-old granddaughter. A mixed group for sure, but he made... More

My family had rented a place in the Val d'Orcia and we arranged with Marco to take eight of us birding for a morning. Marco's knowledge of and ability to identify birds is impressive. He is intimately familiar with the natural and social history of this area and presumably other parts of Italy and is highly personable. All three generations... More

My husband and I contacted Daniele last minute and he was able to fit us in for a lovely morning hike around Montereggioni (an easy drive from our hotel in Siena). We walked along the old pilgrim road via Francigena, past vineyards, olive groves, and farm houses. Towards the end of the hike, we broke from the old road and... More

I very much enjoyed my day in the field with Marco. He is very knowledgeable about the birds of Tuscany - where to find them and how to identify them - and has a very engaging personality. I would certainly like to go birding with Marco again.
