Spectacular views of Lanzarote
Jan 2020
We came here today and found the castle and views really good. It is only 3 Euro entry fee with parking. The castle has an interesting history, told through posters and video presentations. There is also lots of information on pirates. So if you like castles and pirates, this is for you!
Best of all were the wonderful views from the top. We were lucky to see them on a clear, sunny day. The castle is perched on the side of a volcanic cauldera- again with great views of this from the ramparts.
Great visit.

Wonderful view of the island, great bit of history well laid out

We’ve visited this castle a few times, not been for a while and so decided to go for the view. Paid our 3 euros to go in, such a paltry sum for a good few hours visit. Walked into the first part of the exhibit inside the fort/castle and it’s all changed. Wow I was amazed at the layouts and info they’ve put in, some effort here. Telling the story of how the castle came into being, defenders and attackers history and rebuilds of the defences. Great Spanish and English language story boards, covering Drake, Nelson, Rogers, and many more pirates who had attacked the place successfully and unsuccessfully. The roof still provides making views across the whole island, the towns along the roads and it’s all breath taking.
Don’t miss out on this it’s well worth it.

Great views
Jan 2020
Worth the 3 euro entrance fee just for the views. Interesting exhibition about the pirates that visited the islands, lots of rooms to see and definitely worth a visit, they had done a lot of work and improvements since we last visited.

We were driving along when we spotted this up on the hilltop and decided it would be worth a closer look. Amazing views of the surrounding area so glad we made the effort.

Unexpected gem
Dec 2019 • Couples
We got accidentally stopped at the Castillo and were amazed how cool the location is. The museum is very good - many people do not realize how huge it is and just go to the entrance instead of following the small yellow arrows into the depth of the fortress which is prepped nicely with multi media components. If have have less than ten rooms you missed a lot :).

The top of the castle has amazing long range views and is a great spot to unpack some cheese (Teguise!!!) and do a nice small stop. Do not forget to collect your garbage please ! If you like do a quick hike around the caldera (15 min). We were alone and had lots of fun.

Careful driving up the roads

We popped here as a quick visit . 3€ each can’t be bad - there’s a down stairs area pirate history a few bits on pirate art and a few names of pirates and wat they were famous for . A model in the middle of the room and a room which was like a ship . Models of ships- a few things to read . The castle is located on top of a mountain / volcano . It is hideous to drive up my hubby drove and on many occasions I thought we would go over the edge it’s just tarmac on dirt and a drop . When u get to the top the parking is random if u can get close to the castle as I was afraid of the car just rolling off the side . I was even tempted to walk down the road as I was scared going up but it wasn’t as bad . On top of the castle you have gr8 views Surrounding the area Considering others places we have paid for views . 3€ is cheap . Go chill out enjoy . The gift shop is there but was closed guess xmas time . Happy staff to serve you when u enter worth a trip worth the scare please drive slow going up and lastly . Toilets are located around back of castle . And my kids 17/13 went into the crator to the side to look at the old ruin at the bottom

Pirate History
Nov 2019
Easy to travel to Teguise by bus. The town used to be the island capital, and has many old buildings with good display panels (also in English). Then a walk up the hill to the castle. Taxis also available, and plenty of parking if you have a car. In the castle itself, lots of information on the history of the island, and the various pirate attacks (also in English). Good videos and displays. Good value at 3 Euro each.
