The Museum was closed when we visited Monnickendam on a Sunday afternoon of April ! The clock tower is quite reminiscent of the belfries found in northern Belgium and France and in fact is much nicer than a lot of them . We were told...More

Very nice Museum with a kid area and the clock mechanism is the oldest in Europe. It plays songs and has a little scene that plays. Lovely people running the museum and some nice videos explaining the local culture.

Museum De Speeltoren offers a small exhibition about the local history and nature. There are several stuffed birds on display .Few tourist visit this scenic village.

I did not get in but the tower is quite a sight, that gives all its cachet to the village. To my disappointment the carillon did not display the small riders, but the sound of the bells is nice and the naive angel rather cute....More

This is a wonderful small village museum. Quite a lovely surprise. This is a wonderful town to walk around in. Many old 17th C houses. Beautiful harbor and locks. Good little restaurants. Perfect for and afternoon visit
