Nice visit to the seal rescue and conservatory of Texel. Interesting to learn more about seal and great tp contribute to the conservatory. Other exhibits are an inside aquarium, but don't expect too much. of it.

This is a conservatory for the seals. You get to learn all about seals and most of the sea creatures found in the wadden sea. This is more of a museum and not an aquarium. So you don't find a lot of fish varieties here. It's definitely a great place for the kids to learn about sea animals.

This is a really nice aquarium with plenty for all ages. The highlights were the recently rescued baby seals, but the exhibitions were also very interesting. Great for kids, & adults too!

Interesting exhibition, mostly and especially for the youngest.
I felt emotional watching the story of seals who were rescued and brought back to the sea after several months.
The most interesting part is the outdoor space, where visitors can see different species of seals. Many information are provided, so you can learn a lot about seals.
Moreover, there’s a very nice walk in the Dunes (around 2km the longest path, but also a shorter one is available).

Great for kids under 12, due to the very interactive set up. You will get a good appreciation of de Waddenzee and all things around it. Also nice to see the rescued seals.

Great half day out.
Me and my partner visited this centre and spent 3 and a half hours here. It's very nice with English translations as well. Nice place to sit and drink, and you can watch the seals.

Ecomare is first and foremost an animal rescue center. The fact that the setup of the exhibit is done so well and with so much care is therefore all the more impressive. Outside you can see all the rescue animals such as seals and porpoise but the care that the animal needs is first priority, showing them to the public is second. In order to do that the center has simply made large windows in the crèche areas. The animals that are stronger can stay in the bigger basins outside. One every so often the recovered animals are set back into the wild in the area where they are from. If that means a round trip to the arctic to release a stray, that is the round trip they make.

We really enjoyed the educational aspect of Ecomare. The staff were engaging and obviously loved taking care of the seals and porpoises which can not be released for a variety of reasons. The sea aquarium was very well done with different aquariums to represent the diversity of habitats in the ocean. We also enjoyed the dune house and dune walks. We want to come back when there are excursions led by the staff as well.

Ecomare is such an impressive experience- from the rescued and rehabilitated young seals, to the aquarium with indigenous sea life, to taking care of the environment.... this was a not-to-be-missed experience for any animal lover visiting texel!!!
