Description:

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park....

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park. Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn. Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months.

Its quirky, inspirational, awe inspiring and tons of fun. Doesnt matter how old you are you will really enjoy this place and yes you will probably get wet! We all thoroughly enjoyed it especially the playground! The bike carousel was terrific. An absolute must do.

What a great way to spend an afternoon with the grandson. I'd not been for about 18 years, and I wasn't disappointed in the place. Loads of hands on activities for kids.and granddads, as well as a cool playground, and fun signs to read along the way. A warm day would be best, and also a change of clothes if... More

I just loved the Waterworks! That's a very nice place to go, no matter if you're old or young! I've seen a group of 4 old ladies that looked like a bunch of kids playing all around, that was so nice! Lots of funny attractions and some education signs as well to explain the basics about how water works. Also... More

This is pretty amazing education to learn about how water works in our life. Especially for families, you should go there with your kids!

Kids and adults alike had an amazing time here. The time and effort put into creating all the different water attractions is amazing. We were there for around 5 hours and could have stayed longer. A fun family thing to to

My wife and i were looking forward to visiting this attraction following good reviews from friends who had visited some years ago. Online reviews are also positive. Unfortunately our experience was different. On entering we noticed that the park had received "best of" awards in 2011/2. I can understand why. In its heyday it would have been great. Now many... Stopped here for a coffee and snack on our road trip around New Zealand. We did not go around the whole Waterworks experience which looked great for a family but what we saw was quirky and great fun.

This is a fantastic place for a family adventure, We spent a full on 3 hours and enjoyed every minute. The lady at the front desk was very nice and made it fell like we could treat the place like it was our own, even said we could bring a picnic. I can't wait to come back to this area... More

We visited a few years ago and things were looking down for the old place but I'm pleased to report that they have put in some good effort and The Waterworks and all the exhibits were looking repaired and back to ship-shape. This place is a relaxed and fun day out for the family. The signage is really silly and... More
