We had a very pleasant walk along the river on Monday morning. Took us about an hour return trip from town. Very little along the route but there are a couple of bars etc. close to town end of the walk.

The River Walk is quite beautiful, especially when the tide is high. Also suitable for cycling as long as cyclists take care to avoid walkers. Good for a couple in love to have a walk holding hands and a talk. Or not talk...

Great walk along the river to the ocean mouth. Stop along the way for fish and chips or at the fishing club for something to eat and drink. Carry on to see the boats coming in and watch the waves. Sit on the seats at...More

Whakatane and it's many walkways, beaches, fishing, surfing and weather are one of the most understated and hidden gems. Where else do you have all these activities and attractions within a 15min drive or in many cases a 10 to 15 min walk. It also...More
