You make sure you take a few hours for this (4-5) Just the hike, 4 hours. It's a guided hike which starts at about 10am (Make sure you are there few minutes before). You pay around $8 if you are a foreigner. As we went...More

We did this hike as part of a tour through El Salvador and it was amazing. It was quite crowded the day we went and we saw a snake (yikes!) but absolutely worth it. There were even local ice cream vendors at the top because...More

We took 1hr 40 to get to the top and are early 30s average fitness. The view is spectacular. We did the 11am tour and got the 7.40am 248 bus from Sala de Espera y Abordaje "LA VENCEDORA" in Santa Ana. It took about 1hr...More

Fantastic and challenging hike! It’s about 1.5-2 hrs up, and 1-1.5 hours down. It’s ALL uphill. Best not to go on the weekend. Hikers all have to leave together around 11 a.m. accompanied by guides and tourist police . So it was a bit congested...More

The hike to the top takes about two hours. It's medium difficulty. You need to bring water and you need to have proper shoes. Althoug it's hot while climbing to top, it' s worth it. The view is amazing, crater, another Volcano, Pacific, the lake,...More

This was an amazing hike! Let’s start off by saying it’s a little tough (at least for me) maybe the fact that I had just jumped off the plane and hadn’t slept good or eaten good in the last day had to do with this...More

I was a bit disappointed that you can only walk a little way and not all around the crater. It is possible I'm told to go down into the crater and then back up but you need a good 5 hours as it's a steep...More

Well, you must be in good shape to get up there!!! I started my walk and I have to confess that for a while there, I thought I was going to faint!! The air gets thinner and you have a harder time to breath, but...More

2 hours to the top and 2 hours down require plenty of stretching and water breaks. The view from the top and the breeze that cools you down is worth it though. There was a guy selling cold popsicles and I tried the Zapote (...More

Loved the hike to the top of Santa Ana! The views from the top are allow you to see lots of the country, inlcuding the Pacific Ocean, several volcanoes, Lake Coatepeque, and lots of the countryside. Looking into the crater is awesome! The crater contains...More

Yes! We drove ourselves. I would get there around 10:45. I do hear the bus is cheap, but driving was no problem.
