This hike is super easy, steep for someone and gets a bit tiring but it takes about 2 hours there and back. You can avoid the entrance fee of where the guides start by getting off the bus a stop before and save $3 you still have to pay $1 for the guide (not much) and $6 for the entrance.... More

Gorgeous walk and on top of the volcano is breathtaking. We stayed at the Tibet hostal, just where the walk goes through. Excellent place, clean, nice and staff is wonderfull!

The only down side to this beautiful hike is the waiting. Bus from town arrives at 9/9.30 and you can't start walking til 11am, which you have to do in one big group. Can imagine this wouldn't be great if 100 people showed up that day. The hike itself isn't overly taxing, heaps of dust, and sunny all the way... More

One of the highlights of our trip. It's a fairly easy climb for rewarding views and a fun day outing. Arriving by chicken bus from town: 7:30am - Bus #248 to Cerro Verde National Park from La Vencedora terminal (2 hours but interesting scenery along the way) 11am - guided hike starts 4pm - Bus #248 returning to town

Great trip and good value for money. A bit of a steep trek and as starts at 11am can be hard going in the sun. Be warned groups can be massive - up to 300 people!!

This volcano is real. I recall that this is one of the tallest volcanoes in El Salvador, and it is covered with smoke so very it looks very mysterious. 1 hour drive from San Salvador so you must visit this place. I visited with salvadorean tour and they had done exceptional job.

Moderate / fairly easy hike up the volcano and absolutely stunning views at the top, worth every step! You definitely need a clear-ish day for this to be able to see the lake at the top, but a few clouds make for a beautiful view - it feels like you're actually in the clouds. Getting public buses could be a... More
