Interesting site with museum, ruins and grotto for 5€ entry pp. A good hours exercise around a fairly large site. We had a problem relying on GPS to find site and were allowed to park in museum as opposed to some distance away. Not well signposted. Coming from Formia along coast road, immediately on left after tunnel. A little care... More

Enjoyed imagining what the incredible statues would have looked like in this beautiful setting. The museum was well organized.

I read a review saying something like "there is almost nothing there. take a walk along the beach and you can see everything". This is complete rubbish. The museum (which you can't see into from the beach) is a treasured part of the Sperlonga community. Apart from containing incredible reconstructions of destroyed Marbles (statues) found in the caves and fisheries... More

We visited this very early in the season and thus it was virtually empty, which was just fine for us since we were able to ramble around the site and in the cave without worry. There are no guard rails surrounding the waters inside the cave (thank goodness!) which is a good thing in that it preserves the rustic nature... More

A little gem ... with a free bit of beach too! Archaeological dig and museum. Incredible Cave/Grotto by the sea - supposedly part of Tiberius' palace.

A charming, albeit short visit to the Villa of Tiberius and Museum of Archeology left us amazed at what life might have been like for the wealthiest of the Romand Empire visiting their coastal retreats. The museum does a good job of showing its artefacts (but could do with a little investment to the building's condition and exhibits). This does... More

This place is less than 2 km from Sperlonga, so it's easy to walk there. The entrance fee isn't very much and I think it's only 2,50 if you're under 25. The exhibition was interesting, and I like how it included telling how this villa was found in the 1950s because that was a fascinating story on its own. The... More

Great piece of history with a superb museum in a great location. Not expensive to go into. Could do with some more explanations when you are actually in the villa but the cave is great.
