The former processing plant of tuna fish at Favignana island has been working for over 150 years, from the beginning of 19th century until the end of the 20th. It has now been turned into an extremely interesting museum and example of industrial archaelogy. Experienced guides are capable to entertain and explain the history and activity of the factory in... Our guidebooks advised that there were plans to refurbish the derelict former tuna factory but when we arrived we were pleased to discover that this information was out of date and that this improvement had already taken place. Not knowing what was inside, we were a little nervous about paying the €3 entry fee, but the fantastic exhibitions make it... More

I visited the Ex Stabilimento Florio just a few days ago. Amazing and interesting experience. You learn a lot about tuna fishing and the history of the island. The factory has been renovated in a lovely way and you can breath the love and the energy of that place. How the guide Gaetano explained to us, people who used to... More

Amazing tour of a former tuna canning factory. We took the Italian tour(they also have an English one in the afternoon) an my wife partially translated the guide's story/speech to me. Very informative! Didn't think I woul learn this much about old tuna fishing methods, tuna processing, island history, etc. Tour does not take longer than 1 to 1 1/2... More

Good for an afternoon visit when you have maxed out your sun exposure. Our guide was Italian speaking only... Overall a very interesting visit

We did a quick whiz around this place, a bit surreal seeing a whole museum about tuna canning but overall worthwhile with really stunning architecture and some interesting exhibits. We couldn't help but wonder that the buildings would make a gorgeous boutique hotel though...

This was a surprisingly modern, intelligently made museum, set in the dismisssed tuna factory of favignana. Exhibition are high end and interactive. The old art of tuna fishing in the mediterranean brought to life. A surprise!

The museum is worth a visit. Not many rooms, not many objects. But their storytelling is riveting. There is lots of stories to be heard by their tourist guides. Which are, by the way, free of charge. You'll only pay 6€ for the entrance. I believe that is a fair price.

It's very interesting to visit this place listening and learning about illuminated Italian industrials of two centuries ago and local tradition and culture. You have also the possibility to discover a piece of Roman history hearing about the naval battle around the islands that put an end to the first war between Rome and Carthago. It's a pleasure to see... More
