Dear Patrick, thank you very much for your interest in our animal enclosure zone in the bavarian forest national park. I´m sorry, that I can´t write you in french and I hope that you can read what I write in english. The animal enclosure zone is open all around the year, also in winter. Please have a look on our website, there you find a map and further Information (see "Visitor" and "Lusen National Park Centre") You should choose a hotel or hostel (Pension, Gasthof) in Neuschönau, than you walk (about 1 km) to the animal enclosure zone or use bus (Winter-Igelbus Grafenau-Finsterau Nr. 6204, bus stop Nationalparkzentrum Lusen). The use of the bus is free as you receive a guest card with free mobility (called GUTI) from your hotel. We recommend to chose a hotel or hostel that belongs to the national park partner project (Nationalpark-Partner Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald). Excuse me, I can only answer you in english as I only understand a little bit of french, but I can´t speak/write it. There are no guided tours to the places where the wood grouses spend their mating season as they are very far away in the woods and these animals are very endangered especially in winter times when they are disturbed. You can watch the wood grouses in our animal enclosure zone (in Neuschönau) and with a little bit of luck they will show the mating behaviour.

Hallo, Hunde sind im Nationalpark erlaubt, müssen aber an die Leine genommen werden. Im Tierfreigelände Neuschönau gibt es einige betretbare Gehege, in die Hunde nicht mitgenommen werden dürfen, um die Tiere nicht zu erschrecken. Dort gibt es aber jeweils eine Umleitung. Viel Spaß beim Besuch des Nationalparks!

Hi Akos, thank you very much for your interest in hiking in the Bavarian Forest National Park. Actually it depends on weather conditions and your personal fitness what kind of hikes you can do during your stay. In winter time it is recomendable to bringt snowshoes for hiking. Please keep in mind that the Bavarian Forest is a mountaineous region where sudden change of weather is always possible.
