What a morning,a welcome beyond belief, complete with my two regular church going dogs,so lucky to be there for the 12am service, the beauty of this Abbey is not only it's architecture both inside and out but the feeling of true Christianinty on the inside. We were made to feel so welcome by all. God Bless and keep you all... More

If you are around Selby for whatever reason; this is a must-see site. Especially as the town itself doesn't pretend to be anything special and is generally on the lower-affluence scale of English towns. Free entry and very discrete requests for donations makes the Selby Abbey even more of a resource "for the people" (and not so much a Church... More

The Abbey is a great place to have a look at if you are in Selby even if you are not particularly religious. The building is amazing along with some of it's associated stories.

I've lived in selby all my life and I'm so pleased this jewel in the north is on my door step. Selby Abbey Church which was build in 1069 so that's nearly a 1000 years of rich history with its gothic/medieval stoneworks with it's a very peaceful and awe inspiring churches which you only have to give a donation if... A fine example of an English Abbey. Nice that there is no entrance fee to put visitors off. I often decline entering such establishments as I do not know if I am going to get value for money so it is good that you can look around and then make an appropriate donation. Situated right in the heart of the... More

I visited the Abbey for a friend family funeral memorial service, the choir were amazing, the Cannon kept the service flowing and the building externally and internally is simply breathtaking. Put this on your list of places to visit in North Yorkshire. Stuart Brown

Visited the Abby this year and it's worth a visit if visiting Selby. Gardens are clean and tidy and you can't miss it because it's in the middle of Selby town. Very easy to access

Want to go back for a really good look. Because of the wedding we couldn't go inside. The bride, groom and guests all looked really summery. Liked the piper outside.
