Fantastic place for bird watching

We went in February. Totally unspoilt and when the tide goes out there are dozens of species of sea and wading birds to see.

You don't expect warmth in February so we knew we would have a bracing walk along the beach. The strong east wind ensured that happened, but it was good to walk by the sea

Great beach for those of us that want contemplation more than building sandcastles. It seems endless and is great for walks.

The Winchelsea Beech Cafe is the place to go on a foggy day. We had hoped to walk along the beech but the fog was so thick we could hardly see in front of ourselves so we ended up here. We have a very nice freshly made sandwich and a hot chocolate drink. It is surprising how many people popped... More

This is a lovely deserted beach on a cold clear day. The drive to it is a bit dreary through rows of bungalows and caravans but once there and parked, it gave us a lovely winter walk.

Quite a pleasant walk if you follow the rye harbour bird sanctuary path Even and wide track which is well maintained The coastline at this point is not very dramatic or particularly scenic but a beautiful sky nevertheless and the backdrop of whinchelsea nestled on the hill is nice. Fairlight may be a better circuit

Big skies, sea, sand and pebbles as far as the eye can reach. This is an idyllic setting. You can walk as far as anyone would want. In one direction through the wonderful Nature Reserve of Rye Harbour with its abundance of wildlife and especially birds in any season. In the other direction, you could even walk to Hastings if you... More

Great empty pebbled beach, good walking (including dogs), bird watching and beach fishing. Huge horizons. Limited parking. Some interesting new houses being built plus access to good pub and butcher.

Called here with our little dog whilst staying in Rye, easy to get to once you find where you are going as it isn't sign posted very well

Loos, parking and a big Sussex beach. Great for families, dog walkers and nature lovers. Flat walking and cycling on the private road behind.
