Small, outdated and had very little to do with Edmund Hillary. Film I saw was from the 90s and I fell asleep. Not even worth it on a rainy day, take a nap, you'll be glad you didn't suffer here!

Absolutely loved this experience. I learned so much about our solar system and beyond. I left feeling quite overwhelmed with the ultimate questions of life and whats out there. As the weather was cloudy we could not do the extended tour outdoors. Well worth it - do it !

In a 1 week stay at Mt Cook you are bound to have at least one wet day so this is a good way to spend a few hours looking at old photos & memorabilia from the early days of climbing on NZ's highest mountain. The ticket lasts for the duration of your stay and includes a rotation of movies... More

We booked the stargazing tour in advance but as with all outdoor activities it's very dependent on the weather. Our first night the tour was cancelled but it was re-booked for the next evening. Again it was raining/cloudy/windy so the tour was cancelled again. What did bother us was that the cancellation was only for the outdoor part instead of... More

The movies were ok, the few exhibits interesting but it's a stretch to call this a museum. A big room with memorabilia is more like it.

Some cool stuff to see, but really not as good as the free to enter DOC centre down the road. Found that the DOC went into much more detail and covered more topics. Was disappointed that this museum didn't go onto more detail about Hillary on Everest or his Antarctic expeditions.

Have some time available. Great value for money. This is a fascinating display to view, especially if you take in the short but informative film shows
