We loved Vitre! So many intriguing Medaeival streets of different types (and an intriguing number of houses or shops left to wrack and ruin but also some recently renovated). There are lovely shops, several restaurants were open after the usual French 2pm cut-off. It felt...More

The small medieval center of the town is quite nice and there is a nice fortified medieval chateau as well. There are plenty of half timbered building to look at and the typical restaurants and shops. If your time is limited in Brittany I would...More

Very pleasant medieval city center that you need to visit if you are in Vitré. Cobbled streets, very beautiful old houses, a castle in very good condition. Very nice for a small town.

Very very beautiful city center. Very small but with very cosy houses. Typical from medieval time. Very well conserved casttle. Must visit.

Cobbled streets, timbered buildings, and a large chateau-like a castle. Monty pythons "bring out your dead" comes to mind. Well worth a visit.

A rainy day so few people about. Beautiful timbered houses, narrow streets, and lovely shops. Free parking beside train station - easy walk to town.

We went to Vitre by train from Rennes (only 30 minutes) and were especially impressed by the history and the well preserved old town. Because it is less well known this does not attract the level of tourists that other places do, so go there...More

Spent a half day here, lovely medieval town and not many tourists, mostly locals. Parking was easy, the castle was lovely (reminded me a bit of sleeping beauty's castle). The town is very clean, lots of little shops (not touristy shops) and restaurants, very helpful...More
